Time/Place Fiber Prints 2009

In these particular photographs, I was attempting to give the viewer a glimpse into a particular individual. Previously, I had felt that little information could be gathered from mundane objects. But I have come to realize their importance when put into a context of their owner and when they existed. So with this project, I was intending to expand my definition of a portrait to the environmental portrait. Also, by leaving out the identity of the individuals, I am opening up the spaces to interpretation. I want the viewers to imagine themselves there or maybe that they even know the individual that that environment belongs. Just because I know the spaces and the individuals, doesn't mean that you can't relate to the photograph because you don't know them. In the end, they are just like you or me.
